Photo Essay: Forever Edinburgh

I’d been sleeping in a different bed every night for a week before the curse of the visiting expat caught up with me – too many people to see, too many places to visit. An inevitable result of over exertion and under resting, in my weakened state, I had contracted a hacking cough. And yet the show must go on.

It was in this tired, weary state that we crossed the border and made our way to Edinburgh.

Although we stayed on the east coast for a few extra days, our time in Edinburgh was limited to one night and it’s a real shame too, because Edinburgh is amazing.

Unable to visit our desired attractions, M and I explored the Royal Mile by foot, armed with a camera or two (or three).

I think it’s safe to assume that the iconic Edinburgh Castle atop its rugged cliff face is my favourite. DSC_0519

Through my time (or lack of time) in Edinburgh, I discovered my Second Golden Rule: when on a roadtrip, stay at each location for a minimum of two nights, thus reducing fatigue and increasing appreciation.

A haunted bus tour and Camera Obscura won’t escape me next time.

Bonus picture: at least I was able to make time to sample some haggis, neeps and tatties. Yum!
